Project overview

A Moscow-region herb producer needed to increase capacity without sacrificing quality or increasing labour costs. Crop Urbanis assessed automation gaps, optimised fertigation and introduced semi-automated harvesting to scale output.

Challenges & approach

  1. Existing automation left bottlenecks during harvesting and post-harvest handling.
  2. Climate variability caused essential oil content fluctuations in premium herbs.
  3. Labour team needed bilingual SOPs and training to operate upgraded systems.

Our contribution

  1. Specified automation upgrades (conveyors, sensors, PLC logic) and supervised installation.
  2. Rebalanced fertigation cycles, lighting recipes and climate control to stabilise essential oil profiles.
  3. Authored bilingual SOPs covering automated harvesting, sanitation and QC; trained shift supervisors.
